Taylor Swift Wins iHeartRadio Music Award Female Artist of the Year

Taylor Swift

Over the last few years, Taylor Swift has become one of the most influential females in music. So, this year, she is taking home the iHeartRadio Music Award for Female Artist of the Year.

Taylor was nominated in this category alongside several other extremely strong female artists, including Rihanna, P!NK, Halsey, and Alessia Cara.

While Taylor couldn't be at the awards this year, as she is preparing for her upcoming "reputation World Tour," the superstar appeared on screen to show her gratitude, as well as announce the premiere of her new music video for her latest single "Delicate." She thanked her fans in her acceptance speech/intro, saying:

"I just wanted to say thank you so much for this award. And to the fans that you have done and always continue to do, you're the best. I cannot wait to see you on tour, I'm actually in rehearsals right now, and that's why I'm not there. But in my absence, and to show my gratitude, I really wanted to show you my brand new video for my new single 'Delicate.' This video I'm so excited about and I hope you like it too."

This year, Taylor released her sixth full-length studio album reputation, the followup to her 2014 chart-topping pop album 1989. Taylor primarily worked with two production teams on reputation; Jack Antonoff and Max Martin & Shellback. The album's lead single, "Look What You Made Me Do," and its accompanying music video sent Swifties into an easter egg hunt to find the hidden meanings behind everything.

Just before the album's release, Taylor once again invited Swifites to her home(s) for her Secret Sessions where she shared her new music and revealed what many of the songs are about. She did the same when she released 1989.

On album release day, Taylor revealed during her exclusive iHeartRadio reputation Album Release Party explained of her Secret Sessions, "The reason why we decided to do them again is because the Secret Session people from 1989 were so wonderful. And they became friends, and they would go to shows together, and they kept the secrets that were unveiled to them in this session, and they really made it possible for me to trust massive groups of people, because they taught me that if you trust people, then maybe those people will show you that respect back and the trust is kind of a two way street."

Taylor also opened up about the making of many of her reputation songs, including its lead single "Look What You Made Me Do," "...Ready For It?," "I Did Something Bad," "Delicate," "King of My Heart," "Dress," "This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things," "Call It What You Want," and "New Year's Day."

Taylor received several other nominations during the 2018 iHeartRadio Music Awards. She is also nominated for Best Lyrics and Best Music Video for "Look What You Made Me Do," Best Fan Army presented by Taco Bell for her loyal Swifties, and Cutest Musician's Pet for her adorable, sometimes human-like cat Olivia Benson.
