Ms. Lauryn Hill and Doechii shared an unforgettable moment during the Fugee singer-rapper historic Jazz In The Gardens performance.

On Saturday night, March 8, Hill headlined the City of Miami Gardens' annual music festival with her special Diaspora Calling! set. The Grammy award-winning artist delivered her classics "Everything Is Everything," "Can't Keep My Eyes Off Of You (I Love You Baby)," and more. Toward the end of her set, Hill invited her special guest of the night Doechii to the stage to help her perform "Doo Wop (That Thing)." The Florida native recited Hill's verse and stuck around to perform her recent hits with DJ Miss Milan.

"Thank you Miss Lauryn Hill," Doechii said after her performance. "Thank you. My heart is so full. She is my hero. This is the greatest honor hip hop could give me. Praise God 🤎 … my entire body is vibrating with joy right now. I’ll never forget this day! EVER!"

Both groundbreaking artists have a lot in common. They previously made history with their respective victories at the Grammys Awards. Lauryn Hill became the first woman to win five awards in one night in 1998 after she took home trophies for Album of the Year, Best New Artist, Best R&B Album, Best Female R&B Vocal Performance and Best Rhythm & Blues Song. Meanwhile, Doechii defeated a slew of seasoned MC's after she won Best Rap Album at the 2025 Grammys last month.

Lauryn Hill's set at Jazz In The Gardens featured other special guests including her sons, Zion Marley and YG Marley. She also brought out Busta Rhymes and Spliff Star, who performed "Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See" and "I Know What You Want." Later on, Hill invited rappers Foggieraw, Mannywellz and Samara Cyn to perform onstage with her before Wyclef Jean helped close out the show by performing their hits from The Score. Cyn, who's a rising Los Angeles-based artist, said she felt honored to share a stage with Hill.

"I feel just honored to be on stage with so many legends," Cyn told iHeartRadio backstage. "I didn't know if I would ever even meet Lauryn Hill so now to be sharing a stage with her it just blows my mind. Somebody that I was really listening to and influenced by when I first got into rap and just as a kid too.. I'm flabbergasted to say the least."

Jazz In The Gardens was full of other jaw-dropping moments. Beenie Man brought out Mýa to perform "Girls Dem Sugar" during his first set on U.S. soil in 13 years. DJ Cassidy brought his "Pass The Mic Live" to Miami featuring performances from Ja Rule, Fat Joe, Remy Ma, Slick Rick & Doug E. Fresh. Coco Jones performed her new song "Taste" from her upcoming debut album along with her other hits "ICU," "Here We Go" and more. Toni Braxton, New Edition, Yung Joc, B.G., Pretty Porcelain, Silk The Shocker, Uncle Luke and others also hit the stage.
