CNN senior White House correspondent Kayla Tausche announced her departure from the network after just two years, according to a goodbye note obtained by Status (h/t/ the New York Post).

Tausche, 38, who was initially hired by CNN from CNBC, didn't reveal her reason for her latest departure in the note.

“I’m off to chase the next big story,” Tausche wrote.

The veteran journalist had previously served as CNBC's senior White House correspondent and anchor during former President Joe Biden's administration, which included co-hosting the network's 2020 election night coverage and Biden's inauguration, as well as President Donald Trump's first of two non-consecutive administrations. Tausche was initially hired by CNBC in 2011 and worked as the co-host of Squawk Alley from 2014 to 2017.

CNN had initially touted Tausche for having "a background rich in economic, technology, and foreign policy that will bolster CNN’s coverage of these vital areas as President Biden seeks to win reelection in 2024" when announcing her hiring in July 2023. The network had previously made several changes to its White House team after President Trump's election victory.

Kaitlan Collins, who had previously served as the network's chief White House correspondent from January 2021 to November 2022, reclaimed her role at the beginning of the new administration in January, while several others were promoted to the White House beat.
